Rural Life - Tambarana

A sunny start to the day but the wind as usual got up!

This morning we were off early as I had seen advertised a Feria (Fair) in Tambarana advertised in our local Tourist Info Office.   It only opened late last year our nearest prior to that being in the Commercial Centre several Kms away.   I have to say it is excellent.

Tambarana is a small Hamlet in the Municipal El Ejido very near to Balerma - very rural.   We had never been before and had to ask where it was.

The Feria is for the sale and showing of Animals and a horse race.   The sale was supposed to start at around 9.00 am, showing of animals later and a market of animal and rural accessories to start at about 12.00.   Later in the day there is to be a Horse Race where the riders have to race and collect the Ribbons.   I have seen it on TV but not in person.

However, as we have a very early start in the morning we thought it best if we missed the racing this year and just went to the sales and have a mooch about.

Of course, nothing was happening, the Donkeys and Mules along with Ducks and Geese were for sale and in makeshift pens.   I ask one of the old boys (always the best people to speak to) and he said they were for sale and I asked if they were for working in the Campo which he replied 'yes'.

The Ducks in the Collage were still 'all in a flap' as they had just been brought and put in the pens.   Also showing is one of the stalls setting up with Cow and Goat bells.  Look at the prices!

I have put some extras in of the local crafts still being used, the 'Old Boy' and the Geese.

We then headed to Balerma and the change in weather was striking - a cold wind coming off the sea.   We had coffee and then headed back to Almerimar for drinks and tapas to finish off the morning.

My kind of Saturday!!
