Time to Think

Thomas Browne - Thinker.

His statue on the Haymarket where he lived. In the background, St Peter Mancroft Church (again).

"Browne has a mind that loves going a little beyond common sense and reason, venturing often into the realms of the fantastic, the mysterious and the unexplainable. He is one of those people who can find something of interest in just about anything."

Sir Thomas Browne died in Norwich on his 75th Birthday, 19 October 1682 having practised medicine here for 45 years. A great thinker he is something of a paradox, his writing often promoting new scientific ideas and challenging long accepted truths while also holding to some long established tenets.
