Soothing

I could not resist pausing at this tranquil retreat in Hampshire, just a few hundred yards from a busy main road. But then, most visitors who seek out this spot on the River Test come largely to seek out the serene surroundings and the fare at the farm shop and restaurant.
The tiny village of Kimbridge, just north of the market town of Romsey is largely centred round this spot, which is home to the farm shop, restaurant and adjoining trout farm, and which along with most of the village, is run by the Kimbridge Estates.
It is also at the centre of one of the most celebrated fly fishing grounds in the country, with the fabled chalkstream River Test running through the estate and the village. It is reputed to provide some of the best trout fishing in the country.
The railway from Southampton to Bristol and on to Cardiff runs through the village, but there is no station, merely an automated level crossing close to the farm shop and restaurant.
This picturesque water is a landscaped part of the farm shop, but the Test river itself is only yards away and offers spectacular riverscape views.

Tranquil? You couldn’t wish  for anything more peaceful and relaxing.
