Wearing purple...

Floods and the aftermath...

...in Keswick.
The Environment has certainly changed in the Lake District since Storm Desmond whooshed through over Christmas. Roads are still blocked - the A591 is not due to open until mid-May; bridges are still down - Pooley(no)Bridge has become Pooley(Temporary)Bridge only recently; and there are piles of flood debris corralled in car parks and on spare plots of land, still awaiting removal. Rivers, gullies and waterfalls have often changed course permanently - or at least until the next time...
The main blip shows the detritus outside an old peoples' home - happily they weren't in residence at the time, but goodness knows how long it will take to reinstate.
On a more positive note - the extra shows ecological steps forward at Scotch Corner Services on our return journey ( and the ladies loos have vases of fresh flowers too, but I couldn't really get my camera out in there! ).
Thanks to davidc for hosting MonoMonday this month!
