If you can't beat them...

Dodd Wood Blip Meet.

Another Cumbrian Blip meet was arranged for 12:30 at Dodd Wood Cafe.  They seem to be coming thick and fast at the moment.  Nine blippers and 2 supporters gathered  with some from the Midlands and beyond.  A very pleasant hour or so was spent chatting and eating in the cafe.

By the time we emerged the day had improved considerably from the pouring rain when we arrived.  It was decided before hand that those who felt up to it would wander (weather permitting) up to the Osprey view point.  So we all including the three dogs wandered up to the lower view point.  Helpful volunteers pointed out the tree with the nest in - despite having seen plenty of Osprey and nests before I couldn't make it out even with the telescope.

We continued up to the higher view point where Derwent Lass introduced us to a friend of hers and Clickychick and he had a long natter having been at the same school but a few years apart.  As we were coming away CC asked his name and when he gave it looked at me and said "is this the J F you used to know".  It turned out he and I had been in the same digs in our early years of teaching but hadn't recognised each other (well it was nearly 50 years ago).
