Acadia National Park (Maine)

A typical seaside view in Acadia, which is the first national park established in the eastern United States, in 1919. Very large, it consists of several parts on Mount Desert Island in Maine, with gorgeous scenery. Much of it is accessible by car, on roads designed and constructed by John D. Rockefeller from 1915 to 1933, but there are extensive hiking trails as well.

We were blessed by clearer and cooler weather than the past couple of weeks, but there were very few birds. This view is at the so-called Thunder Hole where waves reverberate to great effect in rougher weather (the actual spot is directly behind me).
