Keep left

No, not a political statement, but sage advice on some very steep and very long spiral steps on the London Underground. If you tried to descend on the right, the steps are so narrow I think you stand a very good chance of injuring yourself in a fall but never mind, TFL have covered themselves so no harm done :-)

Talking of politics, I ordered a DVD yesterday, The Great Dictator starring Charlie Chaplin. If you are not familiar with the film, it was released in 1940 and contains a very strong statement about what was happening in the world at that time - very brave and very insightful. The film is rounded off with a speech by Chaplin in his role as the Jewish barber mistaken for the Great Dictator, Adenoid Hynkel (can you guess who that;s supposed to be. Here is a recording overlaid with some modern imagery  and despite being 75 years old, it still rings so very true.
