Bluebells Reaching Their Peak

Despite the weather forecast, the day continued to brighten and became marvellously sunny and warm.

Frustrated at not being able to find pieces of photographic kit that I want to take with me next week, and after searching possible stashes fruitlessly, Basil and I got out far too late. The sun was high in the woods. As you can see, the bluebells are doing their thing. Not quite the shimmer that one loves to see, but that will surely be there by this weekend.

When you look closely, there's all sorts of dry growth and twigs among the flowers which makes the photos look untidy. I still prefer an early morning or late evening shot.

Then to Sue's where we sat outside and decided to continue to bask rather than going back to mine for her to spruce us up. Kevin came over with his puppy Dexter. Dexter, Kal and Basil had several bouts of sprinting around the garden. If you look closely at the photos, you get the impression that Basil was terrified but he held his own.

Now back home and must make a shepherd's pie.
