The Bard in Glove

Saturday is the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's death and my dear friend G and I decided to visit Stratford Upon Avon to see some of the key sites related to Shakespeare.  We were very fortunate, it was a glorious sunny day with clear blue skies.

The main photo is of some gloves in the window of Shakespeare's birthplace - his father made gloves (a lucrative profession in Elizabethan England) and Shakespeare himself was apprenticed in this profession. His plays evidently have dozens of references to glove making and tanning. The extra is of Anne Hathaway's cottage - very pretty with lovely gardens. It was truly amazing to walk in houses that Shakespeare himself did. A wonderful, wonderful day.

'A friend is one that knows you as you are,
understands where you have been,
accepts what you have become,
and still, gently allows you to grow,'

William Shakespeare
