A Sunny Ohmsberg Promenade

As the sun was very promising we choose an itinerary, a slowly rising landscape. With dales, prominent hills, overgrown with bushes and trees in various formations. When you leave the old village of Deisel on the westside you will find several roads, trails and tracks mounting up to the big prominent Deiselberg. In the forefront of this afforrested eyecatcher two or three smaller heights mark their presence in the landscape: the Ohmsberg, the Flohrberg and more to the north: the Burgberg.

This time our idea for the promeneurs was to wallk around the Ohmsberg. So we followed a trail along a little brook streaming down from the Flohrberg. The sun was very bright. And the walking was easy. In the beginning at least. We passed the Ohmberg at our left, saw many charming dales, guirlanding up the Deiselberg slope. From a certain point the dale of the Flohrberg brook is part of a nature reserve. The trail stopped and we had to search for a way out.

We had walked some trail and roads here in a different direction. But some times you forget: did we come out here? Anyhow, with a map at hand and some experience we did find our way. And a nice place to rest in the grass. Later on then we slowly descended back east. The Ohmsberg down at our left hand now. The sun and the great silent Deiselberg in our back. The Ohmsberg is some kind of big hill. He shows his own mysterious character in different faces. A wonderful creature, now surrounded by many yellowing rapesead fields.

Before you pass the Ohmsberg you have a splendid far reaching view all over Northern Hessen. It gives this feeling of being lifted up into the sky and fly around through the landscape. It empties your mind and uplifts your heart. In such a liberated mood you return to the old village church in Deisel. In the silence there we had started our promenade. Inside the lightfall radiates eternal beauty, love, consolation and compassion. Outside you meet the walking mountain spirits and in the distance you hear the sheep bleat as they graze.
