Kilve beach

We visited Watchet this morning and had lunch at the inn where Coleridge and Wordsworth stayed the night once, long ago! Apparently Coleridge was inspired to begin writing the "Ancient Mariner" while looking at the boats in the little harbour here. There is a statue of the Mariner on the harbour precinct now.
We drove east into the Quantock hills as I was keen to visit Kilve beach again to see the extraordinary rock formations - and look for a fossil.
We followed the narrow windy lane to the beach car park - not many people about apart from a few walkers!
I was so pleased that JF managed to walk the short distance to the beach itself - and he found a fossil piece too!
It was warm in the sunshine, so we sat on a (thoughtfully provided) seat for a while, listening to the amazing birdsong in the bushes nearby.
A special place!
