Wet Wednesday

Not wet weather-wise in fact it was a lovely sunny day throughout.  We headed out for North Cave Wetlands this morning, a Yorkshire Wildlife restoration of an old quarry.  On the way we stopped off at Bishop Burton, a pretty East Yorkshire village, for a look round.

The wetlands were very impressive with various hides around the edges to watch, and photograph, the many different sort of birds.  As expected I took loads of pics, some turned out OK, including this picture of an Avocet, one of a pair we spotted.

Later we went to Beverley for a coffee at Nero and a look at the Friary, now a YHA.  Close by was the Monks Walk, said to be the oldest pub in Beverley, used by the builders of the Minster. Then onto The Green Dragon, a supposedly haunted, fairy old, pub where we had a meal,  and another beer.  Finally we visited The White Horse, known as Nellies,  the second oldest pub in Beverley,  made up of numerous small rooms, most lit by gas light, where I had yet another beer. Needles to say all the beers were half pints. I managed to get a picture of a corner of the dimly lit room we were in, I've added it as an extra.
