Ramadan Kareem!

Ramadan has arrived and today's picture shows one of the busiest roads in the centre of Amman about 10 minutes before iftar, the breaking of the fast. This main road is usually 3 or 4 lanes wide 24-7!

Ramadan lasts for 30 days and muslims, between dawn and dusk, abstain from food, drink and smoking. In a country where sun up is at about 4.06am and sundown about 7.40pm thats a LONG day, especially in temperatures of 40 degrees +

For us non muslims it helps to have remembered to fill your beer fridge BEFORE going on a shopping trip to the UK (all alcohol outlets close for the month!!) But on a positive side, if you do have anywhere to go its great time to travel between 7pm-8pm :)

Love, hope, fear, faith - these make humanity.
