Kitchen Cove, 10.45am; 23 April.

I know a bank where the wild thyme blows
Where oxlips and the nodding violet grows,
Quite over-canopied with luscious woodbine,
With sweet musk-roses and with eglantine

Well almost, there are a few bluebells and wood anemones just peeping through, and the bright green is montbretia just gathering strength. A different view of Kitchen Cove today - looking upwards into the boreen where I normally stand. The most beautiful day after yesterday's rain. Happy birthday and death day to Shakespeare and happy St George's Day too.I rather wish I was in Stratford today for there are non-stop celebrations but should your knowledge of Shakespeare be a bit rusty here's a good challenge - how many plays can you identify in this five minute romp through the entire collection? This short film was the first one my brother did way back in 1989 and was one of Aardman's Lip Synch series. It remains a firm favourite. We even took the puppet to Stratford - we pranced outside Anne Hathaway's Cottage with him!

Lots of hard work today. A  new blog entry; and some serious digging in the garden. Current culprits being sorted are nettles, ivy and montbretia! And I've just uncovered a stash of lead!

Don't forget it's Derelict Sunday tomorrow - hosted this week by Serpent.
