200 Years

Plans reverted back to the original with my mum thankfully making a recovery from her cold earlier in the week, and deciding to come and stay for a couple of days after all. We were a bit late today making the RHS Tatton Flower Show.

The team was out in force with MrsB and J manning the official cloaks stand on behalf of the local charity Childrens Adventure Farm Trust; and me and mum making the rounds.

I must admit (and my garden is testament to this) I am no gardener, though I suppose I can see what grabs so many people. The highlight for me though was two things right towards the close of the day:

First was a delicious jug of Pims that we I glugged down in a dash of sunshine allowed by a temporary break in the storm clouds - hence the lovely picture of my mum with J; and second was whilst on our trudge out, my request for us to stay and watch the final songs being played on the music stage by an exotic band playing an Afro-Carribean fusion of music that sort of reminded me of the Bhundu Boys a little.

We stayed until the RHS loudspeakers asked everyone to leave, but not before I recorded their last track of the day, and uploaded it to Youtube. The band is called Baraka, and this song was called 200 Years. Brendan of Sax, Flute and Vocals (and a white face and soft Irish lilt to his accent) told us the song was "based on the premise that nobody has lived yet for 200 years, and so you had better enjoy your self while you are still here".

I can't argue with that sentiment, and what a lovely way to start the weekend. It was so good I bought the T-Shirt CD.

Cheers - Have a good one all!
