Extra Sunshine

I am guessing that this a male American Goldfinch in plumage transition?  He was definitely a little ray of sunshine on a mostly cloudy day here.  Have also had the male Cardinal checking out the feeder.  Without the female with him, I can only guess that she is busy with the nest while he is out scouting for potential feeding spots for their brood(s) yet to come...  The fun that Spring brings  : )
