Lest We Forget - Mono Monday 118 - MM118

Today is Anzac Day, an important national occasion in Australia, and a day of remembrance marking the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC's) during the First World War.

Australians and New Zealanders landed on Gallipoli on April 25, in a failed military campaign.  Tragically, 8,000 Australian soldiers died.  During the 1920’s Anzac Day became established as a national day of commemoration for more than 60,000 Australian who died during WWI.

Now, Anzac Day also commemorates the lives of Australians lost in WWII and includes all lives lost in the military and peacekeeping operations in which Australia has been involved.

Some of our friends proudly attend the dawn service and wear their families’ medals and marching in parades in memory of their loved ones.

This image is taken at our local Memorial Park where they hold a Dawn Service and the wreath is in the shape of a Pear Diamond…… yeah stretching the theme just a little!

Lest we forget…..
