Wolves

trying out their cheap new suits for spring. It's dangerous round here being a wolf... Rare that they generally are, one was in fact shot during the winter for no good reason. I hadn't seen more than the odd isolated sheep round here before.

Otherwise, we went shopping in order to meet a lot of people who are also very worried about life as we know it. I exaggerate not.

Bialystok recently simply warned foreign students not to leave their rooms, since there was a group sharing 'patriotic' interests, in town. Now they are going to close down the Zamenhof centre (for Esperanto - created by Zamenhof in Bialystok) - 'to save money'. In addition to the scheduled felling of much of the primaeval forest in Białowieża, there won't be much left of this region worth visiting or even invading.

Sadly, from what people in the supermarket said, they might have to close the borders to stop people leaving. Indeed, already, children visiting the country with one or more Polish parent are experiencing problems leaving on their native travel document. They have compulsory Polish nationality which requires a Polish document to leave the country.

There will be protests in favour of democracy and European values in Warsaw on May the seventh.
