Minehunter HMS Atherstone

Minehunter HMS Atherstone - one of the largest ships able to navigate within Bristol's Floating Harbour - has moored next to the Arnolfini.
Known as 'the Crazy A', the ship boasts glass-reinforced plastic hulls to conceal its presence from the threat of mines at sea. Its job is to clear the way of mines to allow safe passage for larger forces, swiftly detecting and destroying any hidden dangers. She is usually based in Portsmouth and was launched in March 1986, Recently, with a crew of 45,  she spent more than three years on security operations in the Gulf, returning to the UK in December last year.

And now for the results of this weeks DS27 challenge.  There were 52 entries showing a great variety of subjects and in no particular order I have awarded hearts to:
Tiebreaker for the coot making a nest from our detritus
CatchitwhenIcan for a wonderful abstract in rust and peeling paint.
admirer for her elderly greenhouse which I would love to get my hands on and use.
Richardg for the decaying carcass of a boat which always raises questions of who sailed in her and where to.
Muddyshoes for her spooky windowed 17th century house ;  I wouldn’t like to be the window cleaner for it has a pane of glass for every day of the year.

Honourable Mentions go to:
Kerso for keeping his late father’s boots for 33 years (or more). I wouldn’t want anyone filling my father’s boots either.
CALIFORNIAGIRL1 for her million dollar renovation project.
Angel'sShare who is hoping someone may step in and find a use for handsome pile before it is knocked down.
Chantler63 for dogged determination and persuasiveness so he could show us a fabulous bit of architectural symmetry.
Teasel for the magnificent Redhouse Castle and history.
Kd– to remind him of the difference between hanging horse shoes right and wrong way up depending on which side the Atlantic you find yourself!
Lizellen who bravely breeds massive spiders in her garage.
Miranda1008  for letting us know the 15th century  Merchant’s Hall in Norwich will be be restored.
And finally, Freespiral who, on peregrination, was told she was holy enough without the need for visiting more holy wells !!!

Well done everyone for some splendid pictures, full of interest and imagination.  Next week it will be DS28 - does anyone fancy taking over hosting in two weeks time?
