WildWednesday4: Leaf Party

Our Winged Elm is finally putting out fresh and apparently delicious new leaves. Each Spring the squirrels happily dine on them. And of course, the tastiest ones are often usually at the very end of the branch. I used to worry about the tree with all of this non-stop eating of it's new growth, but I've come to realize that it's all part of the 'Plan'. Too many leaves would make the tree's crown very dense, preventing many of the leaves from receiving the sunlight that the tree needs for food production.
I should know better than to second guess Mother!
