Quod oculus meus videt

Chasewater Pier

In 2007 it became apparent that the earth wall dam holding back the water at Chasewater required urgent repair. Since then the reservoir has been drained to carry out engineering works. This has deprived the water skiing and sailing clubs of the most important element for their pastimes.

The works were completed in March this year and the water was allowed to return, albeit the predictions were it would take three years for rain to fill the reservoir to the spill level.

I visited this morning in glorious misty conditions to find the water up to within 2 metres of full capacity. Well I suppose this is one benefit of all of the rain we've had this summer.
