Sanderling(Calidris alba)

This Sanderling is the palest of the Sandpipers and you can see this little beauty is starting to get its summer plumages with reddish brown flecks and patches. Looking very like a Little Stint but without the slight bend in the beak that the Stint has. This is a very energetic bird and likes to be just infront of the waves coming in on the shoreline looking for edible debris and crustaceans. A very pretty little bird indeed and a delight to watch as it runs back and forth, digging about in the wet sand and missing getting too wet!
