Prayer Flags Flying for Roger Payne: aged 55

When a guide dies in the hills those in the mountaineering community question their motives, but almost always they return to the hills where they feel life and spiritual peace most deeply.

This was on the commemoration card at Roger's funeral this afternoon:

"What if I live no more those kingly days?
Their night sleeps with me still.
I dream my feet upon the starry ways;
My heart rest in the hill.
I may not grudge the little left undone:
I hold the heights, I keep the dreams I won."
