The Wheelwrights Arms.

Day two of the weekend walk along another stage of the High Weald Landscape Trail. Sister Sue who organises our walks has an eagle eye for good pubs along the way. Our walk today ended at Matfield in Kent, near Tunbridge Wells and Sue had booked us in to the Wheelwright Arms, which is on a short list of selected good pubs in Kent.

Blip chums, this is a seriously good pub restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was special. Gemma and Rob Marshall are the owners, having bought the freehold in 2014. They have turned it round and now it is thriving. Deservedly so.

We had various tasty nibbles to share - home made scotch eggs, runny to perfection, and pork scratchings with apple sauce. Oh mate, this boy was very 'appy (Greg Wise).

Then most had fish and chips and I tried a veggie burger. All fab. Various ice creams for pud, all home made.

We agreed that the next stage will be done in reverse so that we end up here again.

Beat a path to their door. You wont be disappointed.
