Chickadee Nesting Box ...

Eggs!

As I have recently mentioned R has built a chickadee nesting box.  And we have been watching it like expectant parents!

We have seen the chickadees going in and out of it and before we left for vacation we checked to see if a nest was being built.  It was.

Well, today we checked it again.  And there has been eggs laid!!!

We are so thrilled!  It looks like there is at least five eggs ... maybe more.  Now we have even more to watch for!  According to Cornell's "All About Birds" the incubation period is 12-13 days, so it could be any day now that we see the little ones peeking their heads out.  (Especially since I am posting this on May 4!)
