Threatening Sky, Leanachan

The forecast for today, since the middle of the week, has been predicting gales and heavy rain. Mhairi and I sneaked out under darkening skies for a walk at Leanachan with Bruce and Caley. I say sneaked out as though if we weren't spotted then the tap wouldn't get turned on upon us while we were
out. There were lots of dog related blip opportunities, as always, at Leanachan. Caley persists with his logging activities, dragging huge collapsed chunks of storm damaged tree from the wood and charging along the track with it. Mhairi and I let out a simultaneous, and quite unrepeatable, yell when he ran between us from behind and bashed the backs of our legs. He got a right row for that which he took on board for all of five minutes.

We continued and remarkably the rain stayed off. Mhairi received a call on her mobile from a locally based family member and when she explained we were out with the dogs at Leanachan the caller's presumption was that we must be getting a absolutely soaked. Indeed when you looked at the sky in the west above Fort William it was very dark and it looked like the tap was fully on there. It was breezy but when we got down to The Cour it felt balmy and humid as though warm air was being wafted along the small river valley. This was the out most part of the route and we circled back on another track heading west towards the car. That's when this shot was taken and this is the view east through Glen Spean and the sky was really black looking in places.

When minutes from the car we felt tiny dots of rain but got home dry.
