Not A Bad End

The weekly challenge at the club this week was textures.
I hadn't been very good with it during the week so I went to town when out walking PD.
Leaves were an obvious choice - there is just such a variety. But sometimes you just have work a bit harder. You would certainly have to work hard to untie this. It is actually the dried seed head of a Rosebay Willow Herb.
Elephant knees are surprisingly common when you look in the birch trees. But I don't thin it was an elephant that was responsible for this crap picture.
And wooden you know it ....... I even found a shit cartoon character in the rough pavement.

SWMBO and I got an early getaway from the monsters so we could travel through to Glasgow and get settled in to the hotel before going to see the group Il Divo.
Just as well we got away sharpish - the traffic was a nightmare with people jinking about between lanes on the motorway causing damn near emergency braking and the 'caterpillar' effect that goes with it - and lorries pulling into the outside lane thinking they can overtake the other one that is moving at maybe 1mph slower! Why the hell do we only get 2 lanes on the Scottish motorways?. The roadworks didn't help with the speed restrictions and then closing down to 1 lane.
We got parked at the hotel no problem but had to ask to change rooms as the one we had been allocated was stinking of cigarette smoke. That seemed to take an inordinate length of time for reason - as did getting through to the Eastern European woman in the bar area that we wanted to book a table to eat in 30 minutes.
We didn't have anything elaborate to eat - I had a chicken burger. Well, I say chicken, but it was more the size of a pigeon. It was also dry and tasteless (obviously to fit in with everything else on the plate). So much for the French being good at doing food!!!
It was one of these places that the price on the menu is for the main dish and you pay extra for anything else .... onion rings, cheese, sauces, vegtables etc.
Even breakfast and wi-fi .
It is a disgrace that you pay a fortune (not even a small one) to stay in a box with a bed and you get nothing! else. We would have been as well sleeping in the car.

However, it was right next to The Hydro where the concert was being held and the "Armadillo" (where we are going in a couple of weeks to see Josh Groban).
I took 2 shots of the buildings before we went in - one in High key and the other in Low key simply by moving the metering point in the camera.
I like the way in the low key shot the lights in the Armadillo make it look like some huge, menacing alien head.
It looked much more friendly when we came out.

The concert was really good, if a bit corny and playing on the 'Latin Lover' aspect the group seems to have.
But that worked in respect of the wee elderly woman (who had just come down from the Isle of Skye .... that made me crack up) who was shouting out her undying love to one of men when he was trying to introduce his solo slot.
A very, funny few minutes it has to be said.
The men in the sudience weren't left out though because there were some very pretty, vey scantily clad and very well endowed ladies dancing to some of the Latin numbers (there were male dancers too, but I have no idea what they looked like).

We were going to have a drink before retiring but found that the closest bar to the biggest and most popular concert venues in Scotland was - you guessed it .... in our hotel - where they have no room service and only 2 bar staff and a queue which went out the front door of the hotel.
We didn't have a drink before retiring!

My recommendation when it comes to the Campanile is ................ avoid it like the plague!
