Barb's 89th Birthday

Happy 89th to our dear dear longtime friend Barbara....featured many times on my blip site.   We became friends 40 years ago after Big R and I had moved here....met her through a mutual friend working with her at the University of Washington.  She and her husband (died in 1989) took us under their wing and the adventure began!  Her own kids were closer in age to us, but we loved Barb and her husbands company.  We took numerous crazy overnight trips together to the ocean, olympic peninsula and the mountains....often we had to go on a shoestring so they learned some of our goofy ways too...and learned some folk songs that were sketchy to them at the time...sang to my guitar and roasted many a smore.  Good times.....Her husband passed in '89....she retired not long after, saw her son married twice, lost her daughter to pancreatic cancer, met a new man friend and shared a few good years with him...he passed this year.  Now she continues on celebrating with a few close friends and family here.   
     I included several shots of her getting excited about her cake and blowing out the candle successfully...rather hard to do with lung issues.  Also I wanted to share her prized polished nails and the very specail one with a diamond painted on it.  It was all her day today:)  Barb appreciates everything and everyone and we are soooo fortunate to share this birthday all together!
