Empowerment...A State of Mind

This collage is a sampling of today's sharing of Kehinde Wiley's exhibit at the Seattle Art Museum with fellow blipper and SAM member Nanna K  Top left is Wiley's rendition of Morpheus, then a close up of one of his stunning female portraits, a close up from his World stages series, one of Nanna K;s  contemplation of her state of mind,  her in what i call stripes, lights and patterns, and one of a young girl who was part of a class field trip there in awe of one of Wiley's pieces.  It's a phenomenal exhibit from such a multitalented young man.
I drew my title for today from a Wiley quote saying "Hip-hop's essentially  an attitude, a state of mind. This can be said about jazz as well. I think that that type of radical contingency is one of the central features of the African-American experience.  And it goes very much to the heart of what it means to survive in a hostile envieonment."
Thanks for a delightful enlightening time K!!!
