Picnic Envy

After a dull start to the day, the weather brightened up considerably, so we decided on the spur of the moment to have a picnic lunch by Backwater Reservoir in the Angus Hills.  

There were just a few cars when we arrived so we were lucky to bag a table overlooking this lovely view.  I was perfectly happy with my cereal bar, apple and bottle of water but my husband had a severe case of "picnic envy" when he saw what the people at the next table were having!  They were obviously celebrating a birthday (lots of balloons tied to trees) and had a feast of goodies as well as several bottles of champagne.  We felt like the poor relations:-)

We heard the first cuckoo of the year while we were sitting here:-)

A lovely drive through Glen Isla to our favourite café near Glenshee, where my husband was somewhat mollified by a cheese scone and a cappuccino!  Saw some appalling driving on the way back down the A93, especially from the hoary bikers (not a misprint!), who overtook at great speed round blind bends.  We fully expected to find some of them wrapped round a tree!
