Here's looking at you, kid

Well, OK, it's not a kid, it's a sheep. I have some photos of kids too, though.

Today we went to the livestock fair in Tarascon-sur-Ariège. It's basically about sheep, but goats, cattle, and a few horses feature too. We arrived mid-afternoon, so after dropping stuff off at the hotel we wandered up through the many stalls selling knives, cowbells, cheese, wine, honey, and cheap Chinese tat to look at sheep and cows. There was a procession of shepherds with their flocks (see extra), and a ceremony of intronisation into the brotherhood of shepherds.

Once we'd looked at enough sheep, we had a brief rest. The weather had been a bit iffy in the afternoon, with spots of rain, but it turned out to be a lovely evening for a stroll and a kir, before eating dinner in a swanky restaurant.

More tomorrow, I still have hundreds of photos to sort through!
