Big oufs all round this evening. Although 11 million people voting for a fascist is not great, at least she was pushed below 40%. I might not be wildly enthusiastic about all of Macron's programme, but he was the only candidate wholeheartedly in favour of the European project, so I was not one of the 54 people in our village (out of 209 voters) who couldn't bring themselves to vote for him even to stop le Pen. He made a calm and dignified speech just now. I dread to think what the Marine equivalent would have been like. Now she has neither parliamentary nor presidential immunity from corruption charges, so yeah, #lockherup!

Edit: and for his walk to the podium at the Louvre, Macron chose the deeply symbolic Ode to Joy. Brilliant.
