Passing the Frog

Tuesday were up and very excited.  Sugar caught a ride to school, while I made sure all the animals were all stocked up on food, and ready for a day or two without anyone home.  Then I met another mom, and we headed out to follow the bus of our kids on a field trip the kids have been looking forward to for AGES.  The Greek Olympiad for Waldorf schools.  There were so many stops along the way...and the kids were over the top excited.  So glad to not be on the bus with them.

When we arrived, the kids were sent to practice their discus, and javelin skills.  Then it was a fun group activity or two with the other schools.  As pictured here, they were trying to pass an invisible frog around the circle of kids really fast.  This photo made me laugh, as it Sugar's classmate obviously wasn't ready to grab the frog.  Too funny.

Then it was dinner, and a fire ceremony where each school (3) performed something for the other schools and parent related to Greek Mythology. It was so fun to watch.  Our kids performed a play that they wrote as a class. It was silly, and fun....and well done.  So proud of our kids.

Then the 3 school were split into 7 city states.  Each city state had 11 children, and two adults (a queen and a king).  From this point forward, everything from sleeping to eating to competing in the games would be done in their city states.  Sugar, by complete chance ended up in the smallest city state (only 8 kids) and not one other child from her class.  She knew no one...not even the adults, but she embraced it....and I watched from afar.

They when off to different parts of camp to get to know each other.  Each city state did a trust building/learn each other's names activity, and then it was time for bed.  It took a while for the kids to settle down....as tomorrow.......was a big day.
