Yacht

23.4C sunny and bright with some cloud and hazy. Easterly or ENE wind to 21 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

After lunch Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk. Van Morrison on the iPod Mini (Down the Road and Hymns to the Silence I). We crossed the road and made our way across the park to the esplanade then walked round past the marina to the two quays of the harbour. There were fewer fishing boats tied up today.

We walked out past the ferry terminal and out to the end of the park then along towards Glenramskill. For something different we went into the cemetery and had a wander round. It was very pleasant with lots of trees in blossom and plenty of interesting headstones. We went out the road a bit further where there is a lovely shady part of the walk which gave Maeve a break from the heat. We stood for a few minutes in the shade watching a yacht come in through the channel past Davaar island.

We turned back at the goldsmith's studio then came back along the street side and made our way back past the harbour again to get home. The yacht we had been watching had tied up in the marina. It was surprisingly big, having looked tiny when it was coming in through the channel.

I went out later by myself to get a weedkiller spray to try and reduce the patch of ground elder that is growing by the fence at the bottom of our garden. I sprayed the weeds then watered the few plants that we brought with us in pots. Maeve was very content to lie in the cool of the living room.
