The fishing pond

This beautiful pond with an island approached by a wooden bridge was the private fishing pond for the family who owned the 18th century Abbots Hall estate, Stowmarket, formerly a monastic grange linked to the Priory of St Osyth in Essex. It is now administered by the local council.

The Hall has been refurbished with the aid of National Lottery funding as an exhibition and local history centre, and is also a popular wedding venue, and the rest of the 70 acres estate is the home of the Museum of East Anglian Life.
