I Can See the Sea

Luckily the weather wasn't as bad as had been forecast and the rain stayed off most of the day, only a couple of showers, both when we were under cover. It was still misty first thing this morning (my first thing, 08:15) but the effect on the sky and sea was worth a picture, I took this from the chalet balcony.

We went to Dawlish this morning to pick up Colin and drive on to Buckfast Abbey at Buckfastleigh. Although there has been an abbey on this land since 1018 the current church dates back only to the 1900s. It is an impressive building set in lovely gardens and attached to a working Benedictine monastery.

We had lunch at the restaurant and a wander round the gardens and church. There is a photographic exhibition of local camera club members' work in one of the halls attached to the monastery and I spent a while admiring the work on display.
