Ian's Last Day

Tomorrow Ian flies home to Amsterdam. It has been such a great visit. Three weeks of companionship and fun. Helena got to spend time with him before she flew to her mom's to celebrate Mother's Day. Steve and Kai spent time with him too. Even Clare aka Tookie had a chance to meet him. We will miss him and are so happy that we have seen him this year as we have in so many past years.

Today he and I drove down Chuckanut. Our first stop was Woodstock Farm. Ian had never been there and it had been awhile for me too. I used to plein air paint there with Trish Harding on a regular basis. We had a good walk there.

Next we stopped at Larrabee Park. It has been even longer since Ian or I had been there. My memory of the place was far from accurate. I thought there wasn't much to see there. The truth was there was much to see and we had a great time walking and clambering over rocks. We saw Violet Green Swallows and I got an almost sharp picture of one. And Turkey Vultures flew over several times. Mostly we enjoyed the climbing around and the beautiful fresh breeze that cooled us as we walked. It was wonderful there.

We came home to have a bite and be there when Arvin got back from his "little group" the Alzheimer's Society of Washington's Staying Connected group. Soon Steve will join us for our last evening together before Ian departs tomorrow morning. Tomorrow evening late Helena will get back home from North Carolina. Bunny will get to go back home and our house will settle back into its previous routine. It's been wonderful with Ian here meanwhile.
