All Saints, Church Lawton

Day 10 of our Solace trip. A busy day when I had little of no chance to take photos.The reason why I had no chance to take phots was that we were heading down the Trent and Mersey canal towards Harecastle Tunnel.  This route takes us through the Cheshire Locks, known to the boatmen of old as "heart break hill".

Heart break hill consists of 26 locks which raise the canal to the point where the 2926 yard long Harecastle tunnel takes over and goes through the hill.  The tunnel is one way and boats are allowed through in alternate directions as convoys of up to 4 boats.

As a result if you arrive too late in the afternoon you may not catch a convoy and be forced to moor at the end of the tunnel overnight.  This area doesn't have the best of reputations among boaters due to silly local youths.  As a result we took an unusual decission (well unusual for us) instead of mooring in the country (we were running into urban areas) we moored on the visitor moorings at the village of Church Lawton.

A pleasant and quiet enough spot but the only things nearby worth (to my eye at least) capturing were the Church and a Care Home.  I settled for the church.
