Crossing the Solent

After a wet drive down to Southampton, we squeezed onto the 11am ferry (we were booked on a later crossing but arrived early). As we headed out towards East Cowes on the Isle of Wight, the weather improved considerably and we were able to stand outside and enjoy the views. In the blip you can see Calshot Tower, a lookout station over the Solent.

With extra time on our hands, we headed to Godshill to enjoy the model village. It's particularly dedicated to its model village cause, having a model village within a model village within a model village within the model village. Ouch that made our heads hurt. A cream tea sorted us out though!

We then travelled on to Shanklin to our hotel, which is also the location for the wedding we are attending tomorrow. A lovely meal this evening with the bride and groom to be, and their family and friends.
