Only Yesterday

End of hols
What a fabulous trip we've had apart from floods famine and airport hold ups. And colds.
We have seen and experienced some amazing things, eaten some weird stuff ( white rhododendron soup anyone? ) and met some lovely people.
I couldn't live in China. The beauracracy, filthy air and constant public, loud and uninhibited coughing up and spitting would get me in the end I think. Also the execrable public toilets even on brand new motorway services, mostly they are a national disgrace.
But the people, away from Beijing, have been lovely and helpful, the guides excellent and knowledgeable. The scenery is stunning, the temples and Buddhas are incredible. You need a sense of adventure to come here, it's not for the faint hearted.
We are in Shanghai airport , AGAIN, scheduled to fly at 10.55. Deja Vu all over again as they say. Fingers crossed.

On another note, there was a severely disabled man with MS on our non existent flight yesterday. They had been on a cruise and were flying home. They had been promised help with wheelchair, hoist etc all over SE Asia but it had not been forthcoming and he had been stuck on his ship for nine days unable to take part in tours etc. The cancelled flight was the last straw and his wife was in tears.
I do hope they were given priority flights home and are now safely back. The cruise line was Princess.
Princess Cruises, publicly named and shamed here on blip.

The photo is the glass bowl of oranges in the airport cafe we have spent far too long staring at over the last twenty four hours!
