Carless is not for Wimps

The honeymoon period of operating without a car is all but over; sitting in a bus to get from one side of the city to the other is designed to play havoc with blood pressure in those of limited patience of whom I count myself.

It seemed a very good money saving exercise at the time to get eye tests and glasses from Asda in Leith, but the novelty of getting there and back from the Dower House is wearing thin, travelling as we must through traffic congestion and deviations because of ongoing building construction sites; and all of the 2 hours the time we spent sitting inside the bus at endless red traffic lights, the sun shone out of a blue sky, taunting us about what we were missing.

This is the view of Lister Square in the sun as we arrived home in time for a quiet cup of coffee and a people watch.
