East Head, West Wittering, Chichester Harbour.

What a day, two events bookending a great day out at Chichester Harbour.

The first event occured when we discovered the shower was cold owing to the gas boiler not working. A call to the Home Emergency sevice we have as part of the home insurance saw a fitter booked for tomorrow. So we'll have to wait and see if the boiler needs replacing.

We were off to see a friend in Waterlooville for the day, the failed boiler delayed us and also a phone call from Scotland and a roadside chat with a neighbour further delayed us so we were rather later setting off than we intended.

However, we had a gread day whilst with Rosemary first walking alongside Bosham Creek towards the eastern end of Chichester Harbour. The weather was glorious and the views over the low coastal marshes and all the boats in the creek were spectacular.

We then travelled to East Head near West Wittering for a walk along the sandspit for which the areas is well known. This shot was taken at the start of the walk, looking west.

It was at the end of the day, on our way back home that the worst event happened when we were rear shunted by a car on the M26. The speed restriction lights were showing 50mph, an ambulance with flashing blue lights overtook us and I could see the tail lights of stationary traffic ahead and was able to slow down almost to a stop when we were hit from behind. No injuries fortunately, but the other car, also a Skoda was really crumpled up at the front. So the new car, 10 days old, with only 250 miles on the clock has ended up with a cracked and scratched rear bumper which has pinged out from the bodywork and damaged the rear sensors.

So, it's back on to the Insurance company tomorrow morning to report the second accident...... we both allowed ourselves a moment's loud explitive before I went to speak calmly to the other driver, who was shaken and shocked. She claimed not to have seen that the traffic ahead had stopped.

As I said, a great day bookended between a couple of events which kind of spolit the day.
