Crossing Loch Fyne

A bright but slightly chilly May afternoon.

Crossing Loch Fyne to the monthly Constituency meeting in Tarbert  (which was very positive following the excellent election  result) this little creel boat was  slowly being outpaced by the  current ferry  the old Isle of Cumbrae   launched in 1978 and still going strong.

Good as it is, the new diesel/ electric hybrid  "Lochinvar"  which was built for the route just two years ago  is being missed for its silence, speed and space.  It is presently on the Mallaig / Armadale  service  where  it is proving not very popular given the difficulties a slipway loading vessel has on that run.
