Unfurling Fern

The day turned out better than the forecasters had predicted with sunny intervals rather than overhead cloud. It became pleasantly warm.

I made pancakes for a late brunch. Basil and I set out mid-afternoon to find the wild garlic growing in Stocking Wood, a conservation area sectioned off from Swithland Wood on Charnwood Forest.

We've all seen those shots of the tip of a fern tightly curled up. I spotted this fern actually unfurling from a spiral.

Wonderfully magical in the wood.
