to boldly go...

In the early spring I was given a bag of German sunflower seeds by D, to plant in my garden in sunny, dry Fife.

I'd tried before with a British packet, so I know its possible. South facing sheltered spot, with something behind to hold the heat a bit.

Started them off in the greenhouse, and then planted them out once they were about 6" high and summer had arrived.

Ah yes, summer.

Well they're trying hard to be sunflowers, in a sunless climate. The tallest is up to 5' now, but can they flower without sun?
