One daze at a time...

Christy Almighty

(not his real surname)
Had a great chat with Christy in the library today.
He was holding aloft a weighty book of old photographs of New York that I had been reading last week.

We talked travel (with a daughter in Sydney and the other in Fiji, he has traveled a lot!), photographs, pig on the spit, Samoan rugby players and Celtic Tiger.

He was suitably horrified but managed to keep a straight face when I admitted to preferring Scottish whisky it its Irish-ey equivalent.

Christy truly believes in the virtues of triple distillation.

But we both agreed that Paddy whiskey is just good enough to add as antifreeze to the windshield washer fluid.

No big loss then that Irish Distillers (Pernod Ricard, a most Hibernian distiller...) are planning to sell it to a New Orleans-based bourbon giant.
