Strummer in the City

Every year in Liverpool we hold an event to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Bi-phobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT) and this year I was, once again, one of the organisers.

We put on a busy programme today, including speakers, stalls, 6 workshops, and entertainment from Liverpool LGBT Community Choir, stand-ups Alison Stokes (aka Fanny La Tranny) and Meryl Cuzak (aka Mezzer the Lezzer), and an excellent buffet provided by my favourite caterer, the wonderful Brendan.

Another highlight was the musical performance by the fabulous Antoinette Egan. Our paths occasionally cross in our day jobs but when she's not analysing mental health data for the NHS she's writing and performing her own songs rather splendidly.

Move over Dusty Springfield, kd lang and Tegan and Sara www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVoFL-Ux9Fg - there's another lesbian musical icon on the block!
