Fruit and Brimstone

Back at work today - rather dull and the antihistamines don't help.

After dinner while I was looking at my rather feeble selection of pictures my better half called to say that there was an interesting moth on the quince in the front garden. I tried a few shots and while none were ideal - it was a silly angle and the light was a lovely colour but not in the right direction - this is the best!

We think it's a brimstone moth (Opisthograptis luteolata) which lays it's eggs on fruit trees like apple or quince. Given that the quince isn't that well - my better half was spraying with fungicide when she noticed the moth - it may not be a very smart place to lay it's eggs...
