A huge privilege to be invited as a guest to the biggest ever Gold Award presentations of the Duke of Edinburgh Award at Buckingham Palace - part of their 60th birthday celebrations.

The sun shone, the grass wasn't squelchy so the heels held up without sinking (most of the time!) and the palace gardens themselves were as stunning as you would expect.

But of course it was the young people who were the superstars. Remarkable achievements by each and every one of them - each taking on their own challenges, volunteering and skills-based activities. So many wonderful stories and it was such an honour to share their special day with their families and friends.

There were around 6,000 people there on the day - but every one of those Gold Award winners shone brighter than all the rest.
