Capturing my Journey

Firewood

We have run out of firewood. We have lots of wood but no chopped logs which we sell to the self catering cottages for the stove and use in our own stove. Today we worked on two trees that have come down on a fence and means that livestock keep getting into the trees. We have lengths for cross cutting and then chopping and a big bonfire for the brash. Still plenty more to do but its a start.

In the morning we did a post calving/lambing (still two ewes to lamb) tidy up in the shed as it had become a muddle of dumped things when we have been rushing here there and everywhere. A lot better now and much more useable. We also fixed a bit of fence where 3 old posts had snapped and set a sheep only exit onto the hill as the ewes and lambs up until today were shut into the hill park. We have yearling cattle on that hill so had to make a low small exit for the sheep to stop the cattle coming home. It will be interesting to see how long it takes the ewes to find it. All in all a productive day!

14c sunshine and cloud. Spitting rain at 4pm.
